Rohit Sharma is a master batsman who is playing for the India national cricket team. He often plays as the captain of the team in ODI when the regular skipper Kohli is not in the squad. In his professional ODI career, Rohit scored three double centuries already. But his Test achievements have almost emptied still. However, the Aussie opener David Warner has claimed that Rohit Sharma will break Lara’s record!
In the Adelaide Test, in the first innings of Australia against Pakistan, if the innings could be a little longer, Warner could break the record of Brian Lara. But the skipper of the team Australia declared the innings and so, it remains unfinished. So, it has come to the front that will Lara’s record be unbroken? But, the destructive batsman Warner is not ready to accept that. According to the Aussie opener, Rohit Sharma will break Lara’s record!
Who will break the record of Brian Lara? When the 2nd quadruple century will come in the Test cricket and from who will do that? David Warner made things clear. For more than one and a half-decade, the records of 400 runs remain strong but several times, many players went too close but could not break as well. Against South Africa, the Sri Lankan star Mahela Jayawardene scored 374 runs, against Sri Lanka Chris Gayle scored 333 runs, against India the Aussie star Michael Clarke scored unbeaten 329 runs, against South Africa Virender Sehwag scored 319 runs innings and against Bangladesh Kumar Sangakkara scored 331 runs. All of them had the chance to score a quadruple century.
In recent time, David Warner had also the chance. At Adelaide, in their first innings, Warner scored unbeaten 335 runs. If the Australia skipper Tim Paine did not declare the innings, David Warner really could break the Windies skipper Lara’s record. But it did not happen.
But it does not mean that it now or never. At least Warner does not believe that. The Australia opener knows well that a record was created for the break. So, the record of Lara will be broken someday. But who? According to the Australia opener, Rohit Sharma has the ability to break the record. If he is to choose someone, it will be Rohit for sure. Already, he has scored three double centuries in the One Day International and so, it is not so sure that he would not show his colour in Test. Rohit has the fitness to play such longer innings. So, if someone will break the record, it would be Rohit, Warner believes.
