It was the 2nd head to head battle between Zalmi and Gladiators in the ongoing PSL season. By winning the 2nd match, the franchise team of Peshawar managed all two victories against the same opponent. The team Quetta Gladiators won the toss and decided to bowl first against the Zalmi. The match referee reduced the game to the 15 overs per side due to the rain.
Peshawar Zalmi came to bat first by losing the toss. Kamran Akmal and Imam opened the innings. But in 9 runs, Imam returned to the dressing room. The 2nd wicket partnership of the team added 30 more runs. Kamran added 23 runs. But the top-order players Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik played a bit well for the team. Only the former Pakistan national team captain Malik scored a fifty in the innings. They lost six wickets totally and scored 170 runs in just 15 overs. Mohammad Hasnain took four wickets alone for Quetta Gladiators.
The opening partnership of the team Gladiators was better than Peshawar Zalmi. Opener Jason Roy added the highest 45 runs. After the departure of Shane Watson and Roy, no players could stand on the crease for long. Though top-order players found runs but they were not enough. Losing 7 wickets, their innings ended in 140 runs so far.
