The dual tournament between South Africa and Australia is going on. This time Australia is visiting South Africa. And it seems that finally, South Africa is showing some good performance at the home venue. The local team Proteas already faced the defeat in the T20I series against Australia. Now, they are playing the ODI series. The series also consists of three matches. Reportedly, South Africa won the first two ODIs against Australia. Yes, in the 2nd ODI, Janneman Malan’s ton confirmed the ODI series against Australia!
At the Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein, the 2nd ODI between them South Africa and Australia took place earlier today. Team Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. Aaron Finch is currently leading the team Australia in ODI.
David Warner and Aaron Finch started the innings. The openers scored 50 runs jointly. Warner went first. He added only 35 runs in only 23 balls. But the captain Finch scored 69 runs so far. The top batsman of the team Smith scored 13 runs only. Among the top order players, Short added 69 runs and Mitchell Marsh added 36 runs so far.
The team played complete 50 overs but could not present the big total. They scored 271 runs only in a 50 overs game.
Janneman Malan and the captain of the Proteas De Kock came to chase the score. By facing only 2 balls, De Kock returned to the dressing room. Aussie bowler Starc took the first wicket. But at the end of the crease, Malan stood strong and fought till the last. Malan’s ton confirmed the ODI series against Australia! He scored the highest and unbeaten 129 runs. Heinrich Klaasen scored 51 runs and David Miller added 37 runs so far.
Team South Africa lost four wickets and chased the score successfully. The 3rd ODI match between them will take place in next 7th March 2020.
