In the last season of the UCL, Barcelona finished the season by facing a big defeat against Bayern Munich by 8 – 2 goals. So, they were too careful about beginning the new season. They just tested their 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 formation. On the other hand, Villarreal tried to give their opponent no space. But still, Barcelona started the new season with the big victory!
But the playing style of team Messi was too capable of breaking the defence of the guest team. In the 15th minute, Barcelona went ahead. Jordi Alba made the cutback from the midfield and with amazing finishing, Ansu Fati found the net. Just four minutes later, he made the scoreline 2 – 0. From their half, Coutinho aggressively went to the opponent’s side and the Brazilian midfielder found the forward in his left side. The young forward finished his job perfectly.
In the 26th minute, Alba almost found the net but the guest team goalkeeper stopped his shit in exchange for the corner. In the 35th minute, through the successful spot-kick, Lionel Messi increased the goal difference. Fati was fouled into the box and Barcelona got the penalty. Just five minutes later, Coutinho was about to score his first goal this season but once again, the Villarreal goalkeeper was the saviour.
